January/February 2015

Welcome back and Happy New Year to everyone, we hope you all had a lovely break. We welcome all new starters to your first term at Lee Academy.
Congratulations to all students for wonderful exam results, certificates are being issued this week.
We are busy working towards our Open House week in February and Showtime 2015.

 Showtime 2015 is going to be held at Bedworth Civic Hall on
Tuesday 26th May and Wednesday 27th May 2015.
Dress rehearsals at the village hall will take place on Saturday 16th & 23rd May.
Please note that this is during school half term. Tuesday will be during the day and evening for rehearsal and performance, and Wednesday will be an evening performance.

Mardi Gras

Because we will not be doing a Mardi Gras performance before our May show, rehearsals will now be from 12-12.30 only from Saturday 10th January.
Please speak to Donna or Debbie ASAP if you have any concerns with the above.

 Costumes for Showtime 2015

A polite reminder that all £10 costume deposits should now have paid. Could you please see Donna if there is a problem with this.
Please could all Inter parents confirm with Donna that students are able to take part in all dances in the show. We are aware that the number of costumes required may be a factor. There will be at least 5 costumes for Inters and 6 for those Inters in Mardi Gras.

 Showtime Singing Auditions – Saturday 14th February

Auditions for ‘Half way up the stairs’ will take place between 9-10.30am, could all first steps and junior students wishing to audition come for the whole class.

Auditions for ‘Reflection’ and ‘The Power of Love’ will take place between 2.00-3.00pm, could all Inters and Seniors wishing to audition be here for the whole hour.

Open House week

Our open house sessions will be as follows:
Seniors – Wednesdsay 25th February time to be confirmed.
Thursday First Steps – Thursday 26th February 4.30 to 6.00pm
Juniors – Friday 27th February 4.30 to 6.15pm
Saturday First Steps – Saturday 28th February 9.00 to 10.30pm
Inters – Saturday 28th February time to be confirmed.

Singing

Lesia would like singing students to wear a uniform, which will consist of a black blouse and either black leggings or jazz pants. This will be worn for lessons and performances, including the show.

A polite reminder

Fee invoices are given out on the last lesson of term, these fees are due for payment on the first lesson of the new term. Payment can be made via cheque, cash or BACS. If you require the bank details, please contact Donna. If you pay via BACS, please text Donna on the date the transfer is made. Thank you.

Dear Parents/Students

Welcome back to everyone, we hope you all had a lovely summer break. We are excited to start work on our show, details as below. If students are not able to perform in the show, could you please let a member of staff know as soon as possible.

Congratulations go to our Senior dancers who will be off to university this year:

Emma Pickens, studying Biology at Exeter. Sian Owen, studying Early Years at Chester. Ruth Phillips, studying English Literature and Drama at East Anglia. Laura Baxendale, studying Medicine at Leicester.

Also Congratulations to Miss Hannah, who has gained a place at B.O.A. studying Dance, and to Miss Katie who has gained 92% in her penultimate teaching exam.

Advance notice – Showtime 2015

We are excited to announce that Showtime 2015 is going to be held at Bedworth Civic Hall on  Tuesday 26th May and Wednesday 27th May 2015.

Mardi Gras

We will begin choreography from 13th September 2014. Debbie will email everyone as soon as we have any information regarding the dates and deposits.

We would like to reiterate the attendance rules regarding Mardi Gras. From September 13th 2014 up to and including August 1st 2015 dancers will only be able to miss a total of 3 weeks Mardi Gras rehearsals.

All Mardi Gras dances will be performed in our show in May. The compulsory dress rehearsals will be May 16th and 23rd. All dancers must attend on these dates.

Please speak to Donna or Debbie ASAP if you have any concerns with the above.

BTDA Candidate Registration

Please could you ensure that all of your contact details, including email address, are up to date. This is to assist us in registering all students online for their examinations, which is now compulsory for the BTDA.

If the student has a ULN (Unique Learner Number) from Secondary school, please could you let us have this.

Medal Class

We have places available on Monday from 5.00 – 5.30 for Inters and Seniors to work towards medal tests. Please see Donna if you are interested. For Inters who would like to join this class the cost would be £1 for the half hour lesson.

Singing

Singing lessons next term will finish on 6th December. On Sunday 7th December at Brockington College, Enderby, The Lee Academy singing class will be performing in The Musical Village Christmas concert. Please could you let Lesia know as soon as possible if students are unable to attend. For those that are able to attend, please keep the whole day free.

Lesia would like singing students to wear a uniform, which will consist of a black blouse and either black leggings or jazz pants. This will be worn for lessons and performances, including the show.

We are looking into sourcing the black blouses and will update you as soon as possible with order information. We will aim to keep the cost of the blouses to a minimum.

Welcome to our Summer Newsletter.  We are working hard towards our exams on Sunday 6th July.

Donna will be sending a copy of her choreography to audition to Mardi Gras in August. Assuming this will be a success, rehearsals will begin in September and deposits will be asked for soon after. Last time the deposits were £50 per person for all in your party (including non performers).

 First steps and Junior uniforms

Please can you order First Steps and Junior uniforms through Donna. A sample of each size will be available to try on before ordering. The cost will be £28.50 payable at the time of ordering, cheques payable to The Lee Academy. All first steps and juniors should wear black ankle socks with their uniforms.

 Inters uniforms

Inters uniform can be purchased from Chorus Line in Hinckley. Contact number is 01455 615533.

 Boys uniform

Boys should wear a Lee Academy top with Jazz pants or black combat/ tracksuit bottoms or an all in one. For exams the uniform is different see Donna if you are uncertain.

 T-Shirts, fleeces and sweatshirts

Please order t-shirts and fleeces from Becky on a Saturday morning between 9.00-10.30am on the above Lee Academy number. Cheques are to be made payable to S V Baldock. We would be grateful for payment at the time of ordering, as we have to pay Mr Baldock at the time of delivery.

Dear Parents/Students 

Welcome to our latest newsletter, we are currently working towards our next exams on 16 March 2014.  Times will be issued as soon as possible.

Many Congratulations to Miss Hannah, who has been voted Dance Captain for the next two years.

Singing lessons will be available for Juniors, Inters and Seniors.  These will be starting on Saturday 3rd May at a cost of £4 per week.  Please see Donna if you are interested in joining this class.  This is a really important discipline to learn should you wish to further your career in performing arts.  We will let everyone who has already shown an interest know what their lesson time will be, as soon as possible.

Following a sudden closure of the village hall on 22nd February, we would be really grateful if you could register your email address on our website.  This would not be forwarded to any other parties, but would just enable us to alert parents via email of any updates to the website.

We will be performing at Witherley School fete on Saturday 21 June at 4.30pm.  Students from the Friday Junior class and Inters and Seniors will be performing.

Dear Parents/Students

Wishing you all a happy new year, we hope you had a wonderful Christmas break.

This term we are working towards our open house week (12-15 February) and our next exams (provisional date 16 March).

We would like to invite you to watch the open house week, sessions are as follows:

Wednesday 12th February Seniors – Lesson starts as usual,  parents arrive at 6.30pm.  Students free to leave when open house finished.
Thursday 13th February First Steps – 4.30pm – 6.00pm
Friday 14th February Juniors – 4.30pm – 6.15pm
Saturday 15th February First Steps – 9.00am – 10.30am
Saturday 15th February Inters – Lesson starts as usual, parents arrive at 1pm.
No performing arts lesson, students free to leave when open house finished.
Saturday 15th February Juniors – 3.30pm – 5.15pm

We have recently launched our updated website, which we would be grateful if you could take a few minutes to look at.  If possible could you register your email address for the updates on the website, this will mean that you get updates such as the newsletter, and term dates when they are released.

The Academy is now closed for the Christmas holiday.

News – September/October 2013

Welcome back!  I hope you have all had a lovely summer break.

Welcome to all new students joining the academy.
I am pleased to announce that we have donated a total of £1497.02 to the Breast Care unit at the George Eliot hospital.  A huge thank you and well done to all students, parents and supporters of our show.
Another thank you to all of the people who donated raffle prizes, we do have a few unclaimed prizes.  If these aren’t claimed by the end of term we will hold a closed raffle and award the prizes to students of the academy.
Steve Hey, our photographer will be visiting the academy to take photos of the students in their showtime costumes.  There is no obligation to have these taken, but should you wish to have them taken on the following dates/times:
Wednesday 25th September 6-8pm Seniors show costumes.
Saturday 28th September 1-3pm All other academy students in show costumes.
Should you have any questions please feel free to ask a member of staff.
All DVD forms that are outstanding should be returned as soon as possible.  We do have a few spare forms if anyone needs one.
New term news
We are working towards our next exams (provisional date 10 November 2013).
In the next few weeks we will be assessing students ready for these exams.
Please could you ensure that the students are in correct uniform, and are punctual for all lessons.
Please could you ensure that all fees are paid on the first week of the new term.
Inters Performing Arts Class – 3.00 – 3.30
Places will be available from January 2014 for this class.  Students should see Donna to put their name on the waiting list.
Seniors Medal Class – 5.00 – 5.30
There are places available in this class, which if you are on the ‘package’ is included in the price.  Students are able to take a performing arts exam as well as a medal.Please see Donna for details.
Lost Property
There is a lot of  lost property from the show please ask to check the box if you have lost anything.  We will keep it until the end of term.
